Today I've been busy with doing my favourite thing, volute shaping.

Almost halfway.

And (rough) finished.

Rough shaped the rest of the neck, the shape I want is almost there and will be refined at a later date.

Is that veneer in the neck lams? Almost looks like plywood! Wonderful choice of woods, by the way.

It is plywood, 3 layer birch ply.

1/8" (3mm) thick birch ply strips? Or did you plane some laminations off of a thicker piece?

I used 3mm thick ply, I also used it as a accent layer on the body.

Drilled the holes for the neck screws and ferules.

I'm not sure, we use this stuff at work and I decided that a few bits were leftovers.
It's a higher than standard quality ply.

I know it might be a happy accident but I love how the edge of the plywood in the neck line up perfect with the edge of the sap wood in the top
