Dean Basses?

I bought a dean edge 09 for around $ 179 on Amazon. The bass has a good neck, and has a pretty good tone for a passive soapbar. However, be prepared to spend a little extra money. First, the input jack went bad, so it needed that redone. Then, one of the tuners went bad, so I just went and redid them all because none of them felt really god in quality. I am working on redoing all of the hardware in gold as well. I know the tuners are a little big for the headstock, but for a $ 179 dollar bass, I don't really care.

Edge 6 fan here. I have 5 of them. Neckthrough, the 2 headstock shapes and different pups, EMGs, DEANs, AGUILARs. The AGUILAR pups are way more balanced and less scooped than the others. Built like tanks and imo sound great. They don't seem to sell fast. I can grab an older one in great condition for $300 to $400 at today's prices. Not a bad price for what I'm getting. JMO.

Compared to an Epiphone (B-0) and an Squire (Vintage-Vibe, with Humbucker) the Dean is the best - by far - of them all! Construction-wise, reliability, neck, consistency... tone-wise it is another thing, it has a lot low-end but not so much mid-range...other than that, I'd recommend a Dean Edge Bass anytime!

Right now I am looking for a Dean Motto Bass - if anybody has one to offer,...please let me know!

I bought a bottom rung, Dean edge 4 bolt on bass off of a friend of mine who was needing cash back in about '93-'94.
I think he was asking $100 bucks for it, and I ended up giving him like $175 just to help him out..

Took it home restrung it, set it up did some tweaking here and there and ended up with a very nice playing and sounding bass that I still have today.

I've actually been looking for an inexpensive fretless lately, and Dean is at the top of that list.

Ahem, an Edge 4 is not bottom rung. Edge 1, Edge 09, yes.

In '93-'94 Dean basses were designated with 'DB' (as in the very inventive 'Dean Bass' moniker).:smug:

Also, there was no designation of an Edge 4 in '93-'94 as that was the Tropical Music era of Dean owned by Oscar Medeiros.

Edge 4 basses under the Elliot Robinson (Armadillo Enterprises) era of Dean basses appeared in '97-'98.
