Dear pedal companies.

I agree that it is kind of waste using batteries though. If not anything for the environmental things, in spite of that you can recycle them of some sorts.

I keep them only (lithium) on my active basses, and especially EMG pickups, where I have two, running NOT at 18v but "longer" 9v. They lasted almost 9 years, continously playing.
 
Yes, the CE-2 and CE-2B are sister circuits, so the LED limiting resistor is the same on both. Just be careful on those older Boss boards. If you have selectable temperature, I would recommend between 620-700 degrees. That probably seems counter-intuitive to the quick-in quick-out approach, but those older boards like the DOD stuff will lift pads pretty easily if you are just a second too much at higher temps. The newer boards seem to handle heat better. But I think the hole plating is bigger on the newer ones.

Good call on this and it worked out really well. Rather than replace the 3.9k Ohm resistor I soldered a couple of 1k (in series) on the opposite side of the board in parallel with the stock 3.9k (so 1322 Ohms to limit current to the LED) and it brightened up nicely to where I can see it outside. Doing it that way kept me from having to heat up the pads too much (I don't have a good temperature controlled iron) so no issues with lifting. Thanks for the good advice!
 
I can totally understand why some don't use super bright LEDs or have a trimmer inside to dim them. On a dark stage, when you're trying to find a setting, they will blind you. It's happened to me before and it sucks. You can't see poop when it's on and right in your eyes.
