Why not use extra bright LEDs in everything? I find that most pedals are adequate, but I prefer a very bright light on my pedals.

I find the lights MXR used to the the minimum I have no issue with. Anything less bright I don't like. My big muff could be brighter... the Cliff Burton Morley could be much brighter...

I'm just wondering why bright lights aren't used everywhere? Ibanez tube screamers have terrible lighting for example.

I like bright LEDs as well, but I think we might be in the minority. Lots of pedal people on TB even go so far as covering them up with tape.

Why.... when I was your age our pedals didn't have any lights. I used to have to walk 6 miles in the snow or sweltering humid heat just to buy batteries. Isolated power supplies? They were all isolated, Duracell. We had to listen to see if our muffs were hot. Young people, complaining their LEDs aren't bright enough.... I think you need a good spanking you ungrateful so and so.........




Biggest reason besides preference is variable lighting environments. Some makers use a trimpot, so the user can adjust to taste. This strikes me as an ideal situation.

I'm in the "some are too bright" group. I find the pedals with blue LED's are just obnoxiously bright. Give me red LED's.

Wouldn't know. I don't use any pedals, except a tuner and it has a power supply.

They should put a photo sensor in, so they get brighter when you are playing an outdoor daytime gig, and dimmer when you are playing a poorly lit hole in the wall.

I dislike super bright LEDs. I shouldn't be able to look down at the pedalboard and then see spots for the next minute.

This is only anecdotal really, but I've tended to hear (and read) more people opposing super bright LEDs (especially blue ones) than people who like them. Everyone has their own preferences of course, but I'd say the latter may be in a minority of sorts.

i just need the LED to be bright enough to let me know the unit is on ... not light up the whole studio ... i like the soft glow of equipment mood lighting . !

it's not like i thought i was buying a grow light of some kind ... !!
