Death... What scares you about it?

paste said:
but seriously, i imagine sleeping like a mini death that happens every day and then you wake back up to reality. im guessing thats what death would feel like

Hmm, could be. Because I usually don't have dreams. So it's kind of like no time passes and it's just morning. :hmm:

Exept when I do dream, I can kind if control them. But that's a different thread ;)

I'm afraid when I die someone finds my secret diary and reads it... already got rid of my stack of porn so not afraid they'll find that, but there's quite a few things I'd rather they don't find in my computer's hard disk... I wish it would die together with me...

I'm going to start a service that addresses this. You'd wear a transmitter that tells us you've died, and we'd immediately dispatch a crew to your residence. We'd remove anything incriminating or embarrassing- porn, sex toys, drugs or whatever before your family arrives to clean out your pad. If you'd killed yourself we'd make it look like an accident. Like Servpro for dead people. : D

I find the thought of having my cadaver stared at disturbing. I want to be disposed of immediately once death occurs. Thank you.
I care not one jot what happens to my body after my death.

I hereby officially and formally donate my body after my passing to anyone on TalkBass who wants it. It might serve as a draught excluder, a stage prop or a temporary source of pet food. Do what you will, with my compliments.

Signed
Bassy Bill

I know a competent and successful M.D. who holds the opinion that the human heart is genetically preprogrammed for a certain individual number of beats. After that death ensues, if not earlier due to some other cause. In this light, fear seems to be a nonentity, and 'carpe diem' the best strategy.

However, this is just his opinion :-)
And not trying to cause offense here, MDs can be great, but generally they seem to lose touch with real science.

I do like that idea, though. Just like a lightbulb or any piece of machinery has an intrinsic lifetime before mechanical failure will ensue.
So from that point of view, I like the idea. Not just the heart though.
It's complicated because we regenerate to some extent. But our abilities decrease. Essentially we have evolved such that past the age when we are likely to have kids, things go downhill. There is little selective force to make our bodies last longer...

The only thing that scares me about death is the possibilty of reincarnation. The way I see it, I came into the world crying, but I'll be damned if I go out the same way.

The way I see it, you do kind of reincarnate. You see once you die your body decomposes and thus fertilizes the soil which gives nutrients to the grass which the cows or other farm animals eat which the humans slaughter and eat them for the meat which feed the humans which create sperm cells which inpregnates a female human and 9 months later BOOM! your reincarnated (well sort of) :D

I've never seen any cows grazing at my local cemetery, =D
