Decided to keep the Ampeg SVT 610HLF, now which head?

I use the new coustic B600H with my Ampeg 610HLF classic and it sounds super great! its like they were made for each oter :) and I use at volume 2 at practice and volume and gain 4 for open outdoor gigs! just do the maths! in medium gigs this thing its huge mass volume and power, and can handle a lot of it.... thats just my opinion, it made a SX bass no moded sounded like a musicman lol and a SX Jaguar Bartolini custom made sounded like and original Jazz Bass and even more!
:smug:

I have been running an ampeg b4r into my 6x10 for years and Ive been loving it. Its a good sound, not great, but super reliable and tons of options. I recently got an SVP-cl and man did that improve the sound. I would def recommend trying to find the svp-cl and maybe a pretty good power amp. The b4r def sounds like an ampeg but that classic pre just nails it.

Is it true that this cab tends to blow speakers? that it really can't handle the power? I read it on another post but there are only complains and from people that dont use ampeg... Its like saying that an american car sucks because u drive a honda and your honda or toyota didnt have a mechanica issue ( yet!) and you heard that some american cars have issues...People! of the real ampeg 610HLF WORLD! I ask you! Is there any problems with your cabs?...Oh by the way... Electroharmonix is making some good replacements drivers :)

Real world 610HLF (former) owner with a loud band - never had any problems with blowing speakers. Used it with tube amps and a GK 1001. Speakers always seemed solid.

Traynor yb200 would also be a good choice

This would be my first recommendation - it's light for a tube amp and just plain sounds awesome - such that I'd recommend it in this situation.

That said, the Traynor yba300 isn't quite my thing. If ampeg really is a requirement, you can't go wrong with the obvious tube choices, but the pf series really are quite nice. If you've got the 610hlf I'm sure that you don't need lightweight, and I'm sure that your budget can accommodate some of the pricier options. If that is the case, you can't go wrong with the obvious svt, the Traynor YBA200 is great, and I'm sure mesa has some great offerings as well. If you need cheaper, lighter, or both, I'd recommend a gk mb fusion 500 or 800.
