There are so many configs to the Sandberg, it's really hard to know what you're looking at.

I do like the layout of the "M" which uses both the MM bridge pickup and a P-style neck.

Never played as Sandberg that I didn't love. Seriously thinking of getting one with that MM/Reverse P configuration. That would be my vote too. Something not unlike…

Get a EBMM Special, preferably the 4HH. Its lighter, voiced better, roasted neck, lightweight tuners, 5 way toggle
...

I had a EBMM 4H, It was heavy, did not like the eq. It may be ok, for some mild hippy, funk junk, just didn't fill my H.C. needs.

The fact that you don't know of the company Sandberg kind of makes your opinion in this thread nonsensical. IMO

When the EBMM Special V cam out I wanted one so bad... The new ones are absolutely gorgeous, sounds amazing, blah, blah blah... I was ready to remortgage my house for it. I had a US Sterling that was amazing before I went to a fiver, which made me a MM guy for life. So I thought.

Then I played one. It's the only bass I ever played where the G string kept sliding off the neck when I went high. I had them adjust it, it didn't work. I tried 2 others and they had the same issue. I expect more form a bass that would be over $4000 CDN out the door ($3950 before taxes).

Then a guy had a Sandberg California II Dark Glass for sale for less than half the price of the MM. It's been my #1 for about 6 years now. I was a bit worried about the longer scale, but it's so smooth I don't even notice it. I get all sorts of compliments on how great it sounds. Sandberg all the way.

The fact that you don't know of the company Sandberg kind of makes your opinion in this thread nonsensical. IMO

I was being facetious---ie; hands down, get a Stingray. Especially if he was looking at Specials. I guess my wit was lost in perception. And I was comparing the Regular Stingray to a Special, which i thought he was asking about regular stingrays.

The Classic " Thunder Thumbs" Ray up front is a Limited Run active Short Scale. I love it. It's actually a Tim Commerford design . But for me, it's my Louis Johnson , Bernard Edwards , Paul Denman , Allen McGreir, tribute . Carol Kaye even used this type of StingRay and helped them sell by recoding tracks to accompany the 1sr models when they hit the stores. She was their beta tester .

It gets a lovely original StingRay sound in a more comfortable package for me.

Thanks to all for their thoughts and opinions! IN the max 2 yr wait ya never know, I may end up with a MM as well! Shhh dont tell my wife hahahahhah!

Excellent… funny thing is I've also just pulled that trigger! I saw one in Denmark Street, London which I loved and set me down that road to ordering one as specced above. However, when I realised the two year wait I thought, "Heck, that one I played was gorgeous, I loved it, costs no more than my configuration and is actually hanging on the wall in that shop!!!" So I was straight on the phone to the shop…

I pick it up on Friday and can't wait. NBD post will follow anon…
