I believe I've narrowed it down the Douglas Pisces bass. I just love the look of the Tele basses and I'm not good enough to spend a lot of money just yet. BUT, my question is is the single coil p bass pup good for a heavy picking style? I wanna get the most out of the tone. Anyone have sound clips not necessarily of the Douglas, but of the single coil p pup played with a pick.

I think a single coil will probably do you good as long as it's properly shielded or else it will squeal like a pig at a slaughterhouse when you crank up the volume.

I got an ATK which mimics a jazz bridge position pup however the great thing about it is it has a dummycoil which acts like a shield for buzz.

So my advice? Get the Douglas but, make sure it's shielded by poping open the hood if it isn't I'd get a tech to do it or take a day off work to properly shield it. If your a DIY guy it shouldn't take longer than an hour I'm guessing.... I'm not a DIY guy when it comes to instruments though so YMMV.
