I say this in all posts about him: He has embraced the fact that he has a career as a YouTube personality. Hes not just a bass player -- he is an entertainer. He has expanded on his video content to get more hits from non-players and probably makes more money as a YT personality than having a career as a player. I give him all the credit in the world for acknowledging what he does and being smart by making adjustments....If hes smart enough for that, he would be fine in any band and would make the same adjustments as a player

watched a few of his vids..good player and i'm sure he could hold a groove down in a band setting...he's having fun, making $, and doing what he loves..more power to him.

Say what you will about Davie504 - he’s playing the game called Social Media, and as far I’m concerned, he’s winning.
Davie has brought the idea of playing bass to probably a million kids who would never otherwise know what a bass even is!!!!
He deserves all the credit and accolades in the world just for that alone.
Dude is silly, funny, and he can absolutely rip on bass. And I can't even stand slap! But he's good at it.
The only bad thing I can say about him is that he alone is bringing that hideous beast of the 90's back......slap! Bleck!!!!!!
But, he actually has a great middy grunty tone (when he doesn't use his white/gold generic scooped Jazz bass) and is never sloppy.

I like him. He’s got a schtick. He can play. He seems like a decent dude, albeit in a weird Euro way. Don’t care that he doesn’t play in a band.

Yeah, that's the deal these days, like it or not. His plan for making money on bass is more successful in general than someone trying to be the next Rush or Led Zeppelin.
I think people should worry more about defending their friends. Davie doesnt need anyone to defend him. Welcome to the internet where people talk $#!% for no reason
You better be thankful for how much gear he sells with his videos. Guarantee he's sold more basses than anyone else recently.
No doubt a talent, but he is playing to tracks, and some of those are bass parts.
I hate that guy so much I block him on every bass related search on YT. He represents everything I hate about music, the internet and attention-whore youtube ‘culture’. If I see his annoying clickbait face, I click away double quick.

I also like Leo Moracchioli (Frog Leap Studios on Youtube) He has made a killing on some of the videos. The Adel has 50 Million + views. That's some serious revenue, and he had a new house/studio built last year.
+1 for Davie504 and his antics. I always watch his videos. I get hes not for everyone though. Same goes for Jared Dines, Steve Terryberry, and Charles Berthoud.

I don’t find him as obnoxious as 99% of the other YouTube personalities out there, but I am totally not into slap/pyrotechnics, so I don’t watch a lot of it. I’m not really dedicated to any particular YouTube people in general.
The guy is an entertainer, he has his shtick and he plays to his audience. Maybe people feel like his often goofy videos are a waste of his talent and playing abilities, or they just don't find them funny, but there's a really easy solution to that...
... don't watch. You only have a bazillion other YouTube offerings to pick from.
Personally I go through phases of watching a lot to ignoring him. No doubt he can play, and claiming he couldn't play in a band is just silly, he's pretty tight to the loops he plays along with, so I see no reason he wouldn't be so to a drummer.
He got my 11 year old interested in bass.
This is a fair point for sure. Is he better than Victor, Stanley, Stu, or a lot of others? No. Does he play anything that I couldn't play? No (well, the crazy multi-string stuff, maybe...). Do those facts make me jealous over his popularity and success? No (but that may not be the case with everyone...

He’s pretty entertaining, although I find myself tuning into Bass the World far more often than Davie. It is pretty cool that a guy playing bass has over 7 million subscribers.
He's not in the league of Victor Bailey, Stanley Clarke, but he is definitely cleaner and a million times less sloppy than Stu Hamm. Every single time I watch a Stu Hamm video I'm astounded at his lack of finesse, his choppiness, his inconsistent volume and attack, his horrible smiley-face empty late 80's tone, and the way he always tries to do this silly simple tapping and always completely misses a string at least once.
I remember buying his instruction video 30 years ago and he kept screwing up, making this face every time he did so. I thought, I know they are doing a bunch of takes, and this is the best he can do??? It's like he had the ideas, but just couldn't execute.
He hasn't got much cleaner since. Always sloppy. Surprisingly so. But people seem to like it. They like Jimmy Page too, and he plays like he has two broken fingers taped together.
Anyhoo, back to everyone bashing Davie!
