Define "Punch" sound from an amp......

Punch is when you can feel it in the gut. Where the low mids are really defined and throaty, but warm.

i haven't heard many genres of music other than alternative/metal that has a really, smash the teeth out of your skull levels of punch, so this thread should be great, always fun to discover new stuff

The low mids that you feel behind your sternum and in the gut. Very similar to the kick drum sound.
Punch is somewhere between thump and growl.
A fruity beverage and/or food flavoring. Oh, what?
That rendition was frikkin' awesome....
I'll be durned.......what I'm hearing in these videos is what I always called "bottom end".
I always thought "punch" was that more "mid'-type sound with lesser low end....

The way Jaco attacks notes is very punchy. You hear and feel the percussive attack of every note.
Notes that you can hear and feel through the mix, hitting like a glove on a heavy bag. That's punch. This bass line has it.
