Delay discussion.

I need what's in the post title; I'm having to buy a looper because the buffer on my Digitech BSW sucks all the tone and fun out of my Fuzzhugger Velcroscillator's oscillation and I want something that I'll be able to experiment with different positions in the new setup without worrying. It is too early to write that sentence any better. Thoughts?

I've tried quite a few delays and I've settle on 3 that work for me beautifully:

Boss DD-7: 6.4 seconds of CLEAN digi-delay, 40-sec looper, 99.99%(DD-7 actually sounded VERY slightly dirtier) DM-2 mode, modulate (nice chorus as well as delay) and the reverse mode. I use a tiny tap tempo pedal and I'm set.

Strymon El Capistan: 3 tape delay machines with tweaks for EVERYTHING! As sated edited can get clean repeats but man can this get DIRTY! This replaced my Roland RE-20 and for damn good reason.

Boss PS-3: the 3 delay modes are VERY straight forward digi-delays and that's why I like it! Plus it can oscillate very nicely (for a digi-delay)

And as stated before but with ALL three of these there are trials (echoes fade away slowly when bypassed after playing). El Capistan can switch between this and TB but it sounds better with buffered anyways.

i'll just chip in and add that, to answer the original question, maxon pedals are really well made, solid and dependable. I have a maxon pt-999 phase tone, my fav phaser, and an ad9-pro analog delay.

i will add that my experience with analog maxon delays is that (as has been mentioned) they are too dark for bass. so i use a DD-3 for sterile, digital repeats, a subdecay echobox for warmer sounding but still clear repeats, and my ad9-pro is what i use for crazy oscillations at the end of gigs etc.

Also worth saying that in my experience, resale may be a problem with maxons - i had my £200+ mint, boxed ad9-pro on sale over on basschat for months at £100, and not a single person was remotely interested...
