Delay Pedal with Tails

I'm looking to replace my simple Boss DD3 with something a little better. Is there a pedal (preferable a small pedal that will fit on my board) that has tails that fade out after you disengage the pedal? One of my main complaints about my DD3 is that when I disengage it, BAM, delay is gone. It's kind of harshing my vibe. Any suggestions?

Do you need something that is strictly the size of the Boss, or the price range?

Candidates that come to mind are Tech 21 DLA with Tap Tempo, Subdecay Echo Box, HardWire DL-8, and TC Electronic Nova Delay/Repeater.

I'll consider all price ranges. Pedal can't be gigantic but it can be a little bigger than the DD3.

The Hardwire Delay/Looper has an ON/OFF switch for trails.
I had one and it was a really nice pedal. Has tap tempo too.

In that case, any five of the above should be just the ticket, with my personal preference going toward the Nova Repeater for price and overall versatility.

Analog or Digital?


For analog, I can't remember if the Carbon Copy does or not, but the Malekko 616, 919, and the Echo 600 series all have a switch for true bypass (stops when you hit the switch), or buffered (which lets them trail off).

The Seymour Duncan SFX-10 Deja Vu Tap Delay is a digital/analog hybrid that has the same switch as well.

Thanks guys. I'm going to look into these. I'm kind of shying away from the boss stuff though. It's what I had, and I feel there's something kind of sterile about their delays that I don't like. Thanks again.

DigiTech DigiDelay does, but the bypass isn't great. Line 6 Echo Park has a trails switch.

It does. I've been using one solidly for 5 years and it still works perfectly. Not sure why it doesn't get more cred.

The Nova Repeater has already been mentioned, but look into it's bigger brother, the Nova Delay. Options for trails, modulation, stereo delays. Really all you ever wanted in a delay, in one pedal.

Except weird pitch shifting when changing delay times, because it's digital.
