But I like Kubuntu!
I had Ubuntu on my Thinkpad (T60 widescreen) for a while. I really was impressed at how well the hardware was supported, the only necessary tweaking was with the video setup.
I wiped it out because I can't stand Debian's package management system, but for people who aren't nitpicky and jaded nerds (or gamers), it'll be a hell of a nice option to have.
Maybe it will be an option since it is an Ubuntu derivative. At the least it should probably translate to better hardware support.
Just personal preference. Apt works fine and all, but as far as Linux package management goes I'm a diehard RPM fan. Well, as much as one can be a fan of package management systems anyway. In the end I really prefer Solaris's over either.Wow, you hate apt? Apt is one of the best built package systems. The only thing better is Solaris' tree. This shocks me, what are your reasons for this?

You know that to go from ubuntu to kubuntu just involves typing:
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
Why?Good god...I can't believe anyone can prefer Redhat Package Mangler to apt!
Why?

Maybe linux's wireless development will be better now...
Slightly of topic, but is anyone impressed with ubuntu 7.04... I think they did excellent job with it... Oh and as far as people saying it's a noob os... I highly disagree, I think it's well balanced between comfort and reason why people like linux. Very well made IMO...
I don't think any Linux distribution is a "noob os". They are all pretty much the same with the main differences being the package manager, desktop config, and installer. There isn't any distribution out there which hampers true power users because they are all the same under the hood.Oh and as far as people saying it's a noob os... In over a decade of professional enterprise Linux administration I've never had any problem getting RPM to do exactly what I need a package manager to do with little or no mental overhead. So all this time I've been making do with something that sucks? I'll just take that as a compliment, I guess.some_noob said:PS RPM sucks...![]()
