There's already been a thread on this topic over at the Home Recording BBS but I was curious what the Talkbass folks thought about this. Do you find more useful the expandability of a desktop or the convenience and portability of a laptop/notebook?

A "regular" computer offers more variety for less money. There's more affordable gear for a desktop.

But laptops are powerful enough for it nowadays. Combine a laptop with RME gear - Whoohooo!
