Hey if there is enough of us maybe we should have a little bass get together sometime!!!!
^Now that would be a good reason for a GTG of area bassists!
I have to say, I never met, seen, known or heard a bass player out of Detroit that sucked!
I went to a GTG at LDS one year, they were doing photo's and stuff there. In fact I was just in the area and popped in and they were nice enough to invite me to stay for pics and stuff, just so happened a lot of the guys KJung mentioned were there. Man I have to tell you I wouldn't even attempt to plug in a bass and play with those guys in the same room! They are all awesome players!!! Super super nice guys! Just cool, I remember meeting Pope there with one of his custom basses with the huge horn..the guy is nice as pie. When you meet a group of musicians and they are super nice like that and have no ego..you know they can play. I have to say I was very impressed with the whole thing. The musicianship of the Detroit players, and just what nice ands inviting guys they are, and the basses...LDS had the best selection of basses and gear around for hundreds if not thousands of miles..combined that with the gear the guys brought with them, I was in bass heaven.

We used to have regular GTG's over at my house (and of course, almost daily GTG's at LDS). I think part of that was driven by all the amazing gear that came out over the last few years, with everyone wanting to check out all the new Markbass, Genz, Bergantino, Epi, Thunderfunk, etc., etc. gear).
However, now most of us have settled into our basses and rigs, and we've all heard, played and posted on all this stuff so much that the idea of a GTG (especially given the lack of innovative new products coming out of this year's NAMM) has kind of lost some steam.
However, we are due for a hang, and we will definitely put you on the invite list, and post up in this thread if the 'Detroit gear gang' (Mikebass, myself, Burk, Vision, Matrok, and a few 'non TBers' like Will Pope and Mike Harrington) decide to get together and hang!
And, +1 to your amps... they look like works of art! Most of us are 'clean solid state guys' in our little group, but if you have a tube bass amp on the drawing board, we'd love to try it out and post up some pictures and impressions on TB.
deadborn...funny how like 98% of the people who respond wont actually be from Detroit, just suburbanites

What would be a good middle ground for everyone for meeting??

Detroits just easier for people to get a general area. Southgate is about 20 mins south of Detroit. I lived downtown Detroit for about 15 years though.
Anyway, I'll be playing at Goodnight Gracies tomorrow night in Ann Arbor (8/15).
We go on about midnight.
So, if any of you guys from that area are around, come on through and hang for a few.
Hey Mike, who you hittin with at Gracies? I may try to swing through...
