"Detroit" Bassists???

Yeah, but in Canada that's VERY well respected and all the chicks dig it"

The only reason Mike posted all this was he's on a work release program and can't get a passport.:D
 
Any recommendations for a good bass teacher on the east side or Royal oak area? been playing since last november, self teaching my self and playing in a cover band since may. love playing bass, and want to take it up a notch i think. i am 30 so i have a lot of catching up to do. preemptive thanks for any replies.

I'll be interested see some of the other responses here...

1) Chuck Bartels. He teaches at Berkley music and Detroit school of rock and pop. He travels a lot though so it's helpful if you are flexible with your Schedule. I can give you his contact info if you want.

2) Bob Degorge. Never studied with him he has a good rep. around town. Very friendly guy, good player. He teaches at axis music in Southfield. I think I have his contact info.

3) Dan Pliskow. Faculty member at Wayne State. Again good rep around town but I hear he's a totally old school jazz guy so if thats not your thing I suppose I'd look elsewhere. You can find his contact info on the Wayne State Music Department page.

Chuck is a sissy
Bob is a punk
And Dan will flat out kick your ass. In a good way.

I know all three guys pretty well. Dan will teach you music.
Chuck and Bob will as well, but more "bass" oriented.
Dan is the guy IMO.....
