Diamond BCP 1 at 9 Volts?

Hi there,

I'm looking at getting one of these but I'm a bit worried about powering it with 9 volts from my Volto. Does anybody have any experience with this pedal at 9 volts or using it with a Volto?

According to this review the pedal can distort when run at 9V. It also says it uses reverse polarity, so you'd need a polarity inverter for the power (comes with the pedal).

I emailed Diamond when I got mine and they said powering at 9v wouldn't be a problem, it could with some very high output basses but with the majority it would run fine.
I've used mine with active/passive basses and never had a problem, my main bass having Dimarzio Model J and hitting hard, it never distorted.

Apologies for being thick, but what does a charge pump plug do? If you plugged this into the diamond could you run it at 9v?

The charge pump is a voltage converter/doubler; you connect its input to 9V and you get 18V at its output, which you can then use to power your pedal at 18V.

Oh cool! I did some work for pedal train on pedalboard planner, and they're sending me a mini and a Volto. With this I can use the Volto with the diamond without frying it

I run mine at 9v. When I first got it a few years ago, I ran it at 18v, then ended up needing the extra spot on my power supply. I have had 0 issues at 9v and it sounds the same. I play passive basses, though, so a high-output active bass might give it trouble. Still, you won't hurt the pedal, you just might get a bit distorty tones on bigger hits.
