DIbox or DI amp

Hi!
I’m on a budget here and I can’t decide if I should buy a super fancy Dibox or put that money an a new amp with DI.

what is the diffenrence between a DIbox or DI in amp? Or does it even matter?

Depends on the amp and/or the DI box.

I've got a small Schertler B10 amp that I use on most small gigs and it has the best DI I've ever used.... but it is a very expensive amp (that I got for a bargain). My recently dead Peavey had a DI that wasn't great but still better than a cheap DI and it was what I used before I got the Schertler.

If you're on a budget then just get the best amp you can afford with a DI output. If you've already got a decent amp that doesn't have a DI output then get an average priced DI box.

The answer depends why you need (or want) a DI box.

For practicing at home or jamming with your band, you probably don't need a DI box.

For recording at a pro studio, you probably don't need a DI box (because you will plug your bass into their pro audio gear).

For playing live at a gig, you probably don't need a DI box (because the venue's sound engineer will supply a DI box and/or put a mic in front of your amp).

So, probably the two situations where you would need your own DI box (or the DI out of your amp head) would be 1) you play gigs without a sound guy, where you have to provide your own gear; or 2) you want to set up your own home recording studio.

i found very satisfyng to bring pedalboard (with pre and di of course) and bass only when i gig with no amps and sound guys are very happy with this solution so far, since they haven't got to fight with the sound coming from the amp on stage (which is used to use mostly as a monitor)
