I never considered buying from Japan on Ebay. Mainly because the prices were usually at least double the price in the states and the shipping cost on top of that.

Did anyone ever order something from eBay from Japan?

I have and had no problems. These days I find that instruments from Japan are off the charts, money-wise so I'd never buy a bass again. Small stuff, musical or otherwise, usually turns out to be 'you get what you pay for', sometimes it's junk. Just be a wise shopper. I was never screwed on these transactions. Shipping was usually as promised. If they say 30 days, it may come a day or two sooner.
I bought an Eden Glow Plug not long ago and it was a good transaction.No problem.
I don't disagree with this, but there can be basses unique to Japan or items that are very hard to find.

Been buying direct from Ishibashi for decades, and never once have had a problem with any Ebay sellers based in Japan (Australia is a whole 'nother story though...)
Yes I buy a lot from Japan. Never had an issue. I find them more reputable than any other country.
i bought my Fernandes BXB-55 on Ebay from Japan......No issues. Took less than two weeks
In the late 90s and early 2000s I bought video games from Japanese Ebayers that had high ratings. I never once had an issue. (Yes, these were video games that never made it to the US, but I badly wanted to play).

A few years back I had ordered a somewhat rare Aria Pro-II Cardinal CS-400 guitar from a seller in Japan. It arrived in eight days (about the same time it takes a guitar to go from New York to California) and was in perfect condition when it arrived.
Japanese people are very honest and Japan Post packages are loaded on a jet and then links to USPS after landing.
If the seller has good feedback on Ebay why would you think that they are crooks just because they are in Japan?

Yeah, I love JDM only pieces, specially the Orient Star line. Im quite happy its not as in demand so I can get them for cheap.
And as others have noted, shipping is typically very fast. I bought a lens that arrived in a day and a half.

I've purchased lenses and a film camera body from Japanese dealers on ebay and everything has been perfect. Would do it again.
I have bought a few Bacchus basses an FGN bass and a Made in Japan Fender from different dealers in Japan. The ONLY issue that I had was with EMS. They hand off to USPS and I watched the tracking until it was at inbound customs at LAX. THEN it stopped. I called the inbound customs office and they were insistent that it was absolutely NOT in their possession or being held up anywhere. USPS pointed the finger saying it was still in CUSTOMS.. This was a headache for almost 2 months. Then one day it just arrived at my door with NO tracking info to indicate that it was on the truck for delivery, etc..
Other transactions from Japan that came DHL, UPS or FEDEX arrived in a matter of days. Faster than sending something across the country in the USA. SO, when I get a quote recently from the Japan sellers on REVERB.COM and EBAY, I ask if they can promise NOT to send it with EMS.

Yes. In April 2020 I ordered an item off ebay from a Japanese vendor. As luck would have it, if I had ordered it a week earlier I would have it. But the week I ordered it Japan Post shut down all small parcel delivery to the USA for COVID-19. The seller worked with me, but after more than a year with no prospect of Japan Post reopening small parcel delivery, on my request, the vendor graciously canceled the transaction and refunded my purchase price earlier this year.
There's a good amount of Japanese dealers on Reverb too if eBay isn't your thing. I contacted one, who had descriptions in English, about possibly getting pick-ups for an old bass I have. They replied within a day after contacting the manufacturer in Japan. Zero complaints.
