Did Bill Wyman Do The Right Thing?

There is no right or wrong regarding his leaving the band. At that time it was not a career-mapped job to quite the same degree. He was an innovative bassist who left at quite a clever time. The Stones have since had better bassist(s) in the learned approach to the bass, and have therefore not completely isolated listeners with their janky idiosyncratic funk.

I think more people should get out of their chosen field a lot earlier than they do - that goes for music, sports, movies, whatever. Unfortunately, egos and bad advice lead people to make poor decisions.

IMHO both books are terrible. More about "the scene" and the glitzy celebs than the music.
I was really hoping for more info on recording, songwriting and stories about the band members than who Keith was married to or the stoopit drug soap operas. I think he gave the Brian Jones dismissal and incident about two paragraphs. Taylor only gets a couple of mentions.
I am glad that he gave Ian Stewart his fair due though!

Stone Alone is mostly a tally sheet about the number of chix Bill boinked and $$$$.

+1 I thought they looked a little silly at the Super Bowl as well. Jagger is in good physical shape for a man his age but he looks like a dessicated corpse. FWIW. McCartney was never the front man that Jagger was anyway...I mean Jagger doesn't really play an instrument so he is much more out front as the lead singer out of necessity. But I agree that McCartney seems to be aware that he's 68 and doesn't try to jump around scissor kicking like a 20 year old..kudos to him for that.

Ask Bill Wyman. He's the only one with the answer to that question. No one here can even speculate on something like that.:hmm:

Every month or so a royalty check shows up up one account or another for recordings he's done as a Stone. Mail box money is the gift that keeps on giving.....Just bet he wishes he'd written more of their songs.....
I think he enjoys the Rocket 88s because he's playing music he loves with his chums...nothing wrong with that at all!

Maybe I can retire to florida to look for Spanish treasure with my Bill Wyman signature model metal detector! I hope it has an ipod input jack so I can listen to tunes at the same time. Wait, maybe it'll play Jumpin Jack Flash when it gets a hit!

A speedo, a metal detector, and the beach. What more could an old guy want?
