Hello all I recently bought a used TC Electronic Nova Repeater and it came without an adapter. So I powered it with my voodoo labs pedal power 2 + but I might have fried it what I did is use a y cable connected to output 5 and 6 with DIP away from normal.

I browsed several forums and it said that I need a regular 2.1 mm cable from output 5 with DIP away and it should work. That didnt as well.

the Nova requires 300mA 12v so did I try it? And how do I get it to work with the pp2 + and how would I know if I damaged the unit? It never powered up and went dead it just never powered up

Thanks a lot for any input

It depends on what kind of Y cable you used.

If you used a series adapter (one of these), then you fed it 24v and it might be fried.
If you used a parallel adapter (one of these), then you doubled the current and it should have worked.

Alternatively, it might have been broken when it arrived.

    i used this

    2.1mm Voltage Doubling Cable - 18V or 24V (PPY)
    Polarity Standard (Center Negative)
Pedal Connector 2.1mm Straight Barrel Plug
Power Supply Connector 2.1mm Straight Barrel Plug (2)

the seller assured me it's fully working. (extremely reliable seller and it was working)
so it's my mistake but the amperage of a voltage doubler is 100mA and the TC Nova needs 300mA i still fried it with the higher voltage regardless of amperage?

Thanks for the reply i did contact voodoo labs waiting for the reply.

Yup, the amperage is irrelevant when you're giving it that much voltage - though, the amperage is actually based on the outlets you use, so if you combined outlets 5 and 6 you would have been giving it 250ma at 24v.
