Did TE ever make a 4 ohm 4x10?

i love the trace stuff and have been thinking about a new 4x10 cab (probably off ebay due to funds), but can't find any 4 ohm ones? did they ever make them or is it worth buying an 8ohm cabinet and rewiring to make it 4 ohm?

thanks

I don't think that they did. The only 4ohm ones i can remember are the 1084 8x10" and the 1524 2x15".

I'm not sure that you can rewire the existing speakers. As far as i remember, they are 8ohm speakers. (i forget which is series and which is parallel) there are usually 2 wired one way to give 4ohms and when you connect them to the other 2, it brings them back up to 8ohms.

I think that you would need to use either 4 or 16 ohm speakers to get an overall 4ohms. I'm sure someone can help me out here if I'm not 100% on this.

There were 2 trace 2x15" cabs - the 1524 was 4ohms and the 1528 was 8ohms.

The 1048 had 32ohm speakers fitted so my earlier statement was incorrect.

I'm guessing that if you wanted a 4ohms trace 4x10", the model would be the 1044 but i can't find anything to say that this was ever done - i dare say that when the original trace was in production, you could've had one custom ordered so there may be a couple of these out there.

well i don't need a 4 ohm cabinet. i currently have an 8ohm asdown mag 4x10 and fancied the extra wattage without buying two cabs. i was looking at the ashdown 414t aswell, but seen as trace stuff is quite cheap over here used, i thought i'd ask around if there was one ever made. thanks for all the responses so far

I don't know how I missed this before but to the best of my knowledge there never was such a cab as a 1044. I have literature covering Trace bass, guitar, acoustic, and PA gear and none ever mention such a cab. Per the factory literature all 410 cabs were 8 ohm.

got2getbetter, if you are still around, I would love to see pics of the cab you say is a 1044.
