" Did You Mean ---"

Friggin' Google Search...

You type in "Ibanez Shortscale" and it comes back with

"Did You Mean Fender Precision?"
I don't get it.

Type in your own name - it can be interesting. Several people came up for me but they only seem to be famous in the more limited worlds of pottery, corporate governance and poetry.

Yep.. I've Googled myself (name only).

I was astounded at how many people with my first and last name are out there.

I don't personally know any of them. Unclear whether I'm related to them or not.

When I Google my name a nice box to the right of my screen comes up informing me that I am musical artist, well so far so good.

Even if I can't make a living of it and I am not exactly a so called acclaimed "professional", that is the one label I don't mind anyone putting on me and associating myself with and defining myself by.

The problem however is that when it comes to defining my music with one single genre tag, it claims that I make New Age music!

Now, I don't know who gave Google that piece of information, but I certainly wouldn't agree, and I would strongly advice against anyone using my music as relaxing meditation music! :rollno:

I tried to write to Google to have them correct this piece of information, even pointing out that I should know since I was the artist in question.

Nothing has happened as of yet though, and Google keeps claiming I make New Age music. :bored:

Funny interwebz story. My mother is pretty much June Cleaver. (Keep reading past the image.)

She went back to college later in life and is severely "challenged" when it comes to technology. (To this day she doesn't know how to pump gas....and doesn't want to know.) She was in a a class at the local community college geared toward teaching older people (she was maybe 50 at the time) how to use the interwebz. At the end of the class the teacher had a fun little lightening round contest. She would ask random questions and see who could find the answer the fastest using the interwebz. The teacher asked "How many square feet of living space is there in the White House?" My mother, thinking she would skip a Google step and gain advantage over her competition, decided to type in www.whitehouse.com rather than Google search it. Turns out www.whitehouse.GOV is the building where the President lives. The other version is (or at least was back then) a porn site. My mother was mortified. She screamed out loud and ran into the hallway. Then she poked her head back into the doorway and started pointing and yelling "Naked people! What do we do????"
