I tend to agree with fhm555. If you are starting out and you want versatility i would recommend a five string. Furthermore i would recommend an Ibanez Soundgear, versatile with narrower necks.

That's probably the best Dyson of all.I am going to repeat the Dyson to try out some few basses yourself, in YOUR hands.
Greetings to all.
WARNING !! Rookie question coming !! Lol. I need help. I am looking around for my first Bass ever. Electric. I have heard of Jazz Bass guitars, Precision Bass guitars, etc, etc... I am new to Bass. Never played before. I will hopefully, eventually be playing Worship music at Church, Jazz, and some Rock. I'm 6'3 tall. Long arms, long fingers. I know I want to start with a 4 string. Other than that, what "kind" of Bass should I be looking for that would be ok for a beginner, and that I can "grow" with? Any and all help and advice would be greatly appreciated !!
Best regards
Alan
Jazz bass makes many sounds. Precision makes one.
That may be true - if you're an ogre.
Seriously, I get all the sounds I need/want out of a P bass. It just depends on your style & technique. And, yes, I've had plenty of Jazz basses but only 2 P's and they were the ones I had the longest...![]()
Before you get slammed for asking the rookie question I will give you my honest answer. Since you mentioned worship music, jazz, and some rock I would lean towards a Jazz bass just for the tonal versatility.
