Different versions of TI Jazz Flats?

I ordered the set on the left a couple of weeks ago for $100. Just got the set on the right for $60. Packaging says they are the same exact string sizes..... are these the same strings? What's up with diss?

It is a curious thing though... why have different packaging for the same product? Maybe for different markets? Like U.S. vs. Europe or something? You would think the printed language would be different too, if that were the case.

Yeah, I have ordered from Europe and US, and think the one on right is the European packaging.

IDK. Hard to justify a $40 difference especially considering the lifespan on flats alone IMO would negate an "older run".

In 2025, you’ve got to be careful of getting fakes. I’d think that Connelly Company, the distributor of Thomastik in the U.S. could say conclusively. This could be as simple an explanation as them using different packaging for different markets. Counterfeiting is definitely a possibility though

Let's not also forget "time" as a factor. Manufacturers change branding/packaging all the time. Stock gets ordered, then sits in stockrooms and on shelves. Maybe one is an older set.

Lol! I’m someone else had the gumption to mention this. I thought I was the only one with raised eyebrows.

I noticed the packaging difference too, but couldn’t find anything else that contrar’ed with the normal TI product. I just figured whoever was in charge of marketing was in a happy dayglo sort of mood when the box went yellow.

Lol! My current set on my favorite fretless have been on for 18 months. I was thinking about changing them out, but this set sounds so good on my bass. They came in the trad darker packaging. Hmm. All my new sets came in the new yellow. Maybe I better wait.

I've only ever seen the packaging on the right - I'm in Europe.

I think the difference in packaging is just US/EU. The US distributor might get them in bulk and do their own packaging.

I just got a set of the short scales, JF324, $65 from Amazon UK, which arrived in the darker packaging. I see the Amazon price has gone down a bit since my order, and shipping to US is free w/prime. I bought a Sandberg bass from Thomann in Germany in December, and wish I'd thought to buy a set of the strings from them at the same time as they would've been even cheaper.

The Thomastik website has the packaging on the right. That's what I got in Eurolandia from amazon 5 years ago.

I need a new set, as a backup, been on there a good few years but still sound great.
