Different versions of TI Jazz Flats?

Today, I put a new set that came in the yellow packaging on my back up fretless.
They sound fantastic!

Yeah, I hear ya. Being an OCD kind of person, I need to have a spare set of strings for every one of my 27 basses; 4 guitars; and a really old, long scale banjo. Which is a lot of extra strings. I have 5 basses that currently don't have spares, but fixing that is my New Year's resolution. I do have an extra set of TIJF's for my '95 Alembic Epic, but... it's worn the current set for at least 15 years, and there's absolutely no reason to replace them yet. And, since I'm 73? There's a good chance I won't be the person replacing them. In fact, I might not be the one who replaces any bass strings. Out of 27 basses, only one wears rounds (TI Jazz Rounds on a Gretsch Broadkaster), and 2 wear Roto TruBass88 Tape wounds. All the rest wear flats. And, one set of the Roto 88's is as old as the TI's; they still sound good, too. Even my guitars wear flats...As for the banjo? Try and find strings for a long scale banjo, sometime. When - and if - you do? You'll buy a bunch of them, 'cause banjo strings don't last very long...
But, having spare strings gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling, so... who cares? :whistle:

I'm not going to look. But I'm pretty sure I have 4 sets of TI flats and some LaBella DTF and white tapes and I know I have 5 or 6 sets of DR and D'Ad rounds and probably 15 sets of Stringjoy 10-48 guitar strings and a few acoustic sets and maybe 2 or 3 baritone sets in a strings box right now.

And there are music stores I pass every day that have them in stock. It's a habit.

That's exactly right. They are the same strings, the only difference is the packaging. TI flats have been my go to strings since 2014, and I have them on multiple basses. The first sets I purchased had the yellow packaging, but I've been buying them at the lower price from Amazon (in the darker European packaging) for 6+ years now. There is ABSOLUTELY no difference.

Don't listen to anyone trying to push the narrative that the ones on Amazon at the lower price aren't real - that's total B.S.

And yes, the ones I installed on my basses in 2014 are still on my basses (as are ALL my basses strung with TI flats.) They're the best sounding, best feeling, best value in strings, period. :thumbsup:

Both are same, but the 2 set i bought on 2023-2024 has different E string tonal compare to early set i been strung on my CIC Squier CV60P and Vintera 50s P. The new E just sound duller and lifeless...... don't know why ... maybe Ti change the formula ?

Question: my Birdsong short scale basses can string through the body or the bridge assembly. These 31" scale use regular length not short scale sets.

How do you run your TI Jazz Flats ??

Note: previously I went through the body and never had an issue… but I did notice the outer wrap somewhat compromised from the sharper angle point.

I got a set of JF 344 for my Rickenbacker Cheyenne. Absolutely loved the way they sound, except the E was dull and lifeless.
I ordered a single E replacement and it matches the sound of the rest of the set perfectly.
I recently bought another set for my GL L1k, and it's perfectly matched across all 4 strings.
If you contact the company, they may send you a replacement E string gratis. It seems to be a fairly common problem.
And I put the dead E on a fretless bass that has a brass nut and is strung with labella white tapewounds. I love the tapes sound,
but the E string replacement has a bit more fundamental definition with the TI.

Congrats! After falling in love with them on my Rick, I wanted to try them on my Wunkay, and they're just perfect on both basses!
