Different woods and the effects it has on tone?

There's a video online of a guy hooking up different instruments with similar electronics to a pic and charting resonant peaks (or something) and there are noticeable differences to which frequencies are accentuated with each wood type.
So there is a difference, but it is hard to distinguish to the naked ear. Just think if you want more lows, mid presence, play with a hi c or whatever and take it from there.
As mentioned before, just about anything can be done with amp tweaking, but if you don't feel like it or want to set it flat and go, it's worth consideration.

I'd rather read about how different weed affects your tone.

Seriously people what is the point of posting a thread and asking for help or info if I'm just gunna get my ass busted or insulted. I just can't stand it. The whole point of this website and these forums are for people who have questions and or are looking to learn about something. God forbid someone asks something the wrong way or posts something similiar to another post, you get harassed. This site has been a website for probably 20 years, I'm sure EVERY QUESTION IMAGINABLE has been asked about a bass guitar at least a few times, but who wants to search for it. If you don't like the post or have nothing to say but an insult then leave the page.

I play fretless, so responsiveness is important to me, so I picked denser woods for the neck (wenge neck, katalox board) so I wouldn't have to work so hard to get that all-powerful mwah out of my fretlesss. It has cherry side wings and a maplee top, though that doesn't do much I don't think.
Tone is really secondary to me, because I can get just about anything I want with my pickup configuration. I put a jazz in the neck and a musicman at the bridge set up with a dpdt single/series/parallel switch. That gives me just about every bass tone you could want aside from a precision tone.
Overall the bass is very mid-heavy, and super responsive. Probably a bit too responsive at times and could use a bit more lows, but again, amp eq. Also, I run passive, which I think is slightly affected by these things. I don't think active is really affected too much at all.

Um people did post comments to help YOU LEARN. This is a topic that has been done to death and is best to do your own research on this website for YOU TO LEARN. Obviously you learned nothing since you forgot that you posted the same questions months ago. During that time to now you could have researched here and on the web for what your answer is.

Ultimately, this is the correct response. Just because you buy J bass with an ash body and a maple fretboard does NOT mean that it will be "Bright".
