DIGI 002 Help

Hey all,

I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to use the SPDIF inputs on my 002 rack. I've got a live recording project I'm about to undergo and could really use the extra 2 ins giving a total of 18.

Hit the Alt Source switch on the interface, and choose SPDIF as your input for the channel you are recording to. That should do the trick.

The SPDIF requires an external clock IIRC - I went ADAT for extra channels as the 002R will sync over ADAT.

i have a Mackie Onyx 800R that is occupying the optical ins on the 002 replacing the ADAT and is the clock source, does this null the SDIF ins?OR is it as simple as using a pre amp with SPDIF out?????

SPDIF should not require an external clock

Correct... using S/PDIF, clock data is carried along with the audio data. It's debated as to how stable it is, but I can't say I've ever had any issues with it. I used to clock my 002R from my Joemeek TwinQ via S/PDIF before I upgraded the 002R clock. Worked great.

It's that simple, you can use both the S/PDIF in and optical, but only one can be your clock source (if not internal), obviously. I get the full 18 inputs using an Audient ASP008 8-channel pres into the 002R lightpipe input, along with the previously mentioned TwinQ into the S/SPDIF.
