Does this unit come with Pro Tools?

im looking to switch to pro tools, and get a presonus firepod to use as an interface and the command 8 to use to control protools for editing and mixing, and i was just curious if it came with pro tools since i know the digidesign 002 and 003 boards do.

No. The control surfaces are all extra ($$$) equipment. The non-rack version of the 003 has the control surface as part of the interface though.

Also, not sure if/how ProTools works with 3rd party interfaces. Why not just get a 003 instead (gives you the control surface AND a firewire based interface designed to work with ProTools LE software - which is included with the 003).

What your trying to do will not work. Interestingly it will work the other way around. Theres alot of 3rd party control surfaces that will work with pro tools, but you must have the digidesign interface. Either A) scrap pro tools, get a similiar control surface to work with your firepod. Or B) get an 002 003 or one of the m-audio interfaces.

i need 8 mic inputs for drums, and the 002 and 003s only have 4.

so will this work with protools?

the firepod won´t work as an interface for PT.

command 8 will work perfectly with a 002 or 003 though. I use one for controlling a HD3 system.

M Audio has a new interface called Profire 2626. 8 inputs, new to the market. I am using it with M-powered Pro Tools.

The project mix I/O will work, but you will need to buy a seperate copy of pro tools as the m-audio stuff doesnt come bundled with it.
