As usual, I have no clue what point you're trying to make. The XBSW is the best octaver I've ever had the pleasure to use and I've owned pretty much all of them.

Thanks for all the replies. Funkmaster. I know what I am doing. A simple synth sound like the INXS sound (what you need) is not in this box. If you want a sustained legato synth sound its in there.

Try this setting - first knob from left at 0, second knob at 12 o'clock, third knob at 0, last knob on setting 4.

Strangely enough I can get almost an exact Parliament Keyboard bass sound outta the Behringer Bass V-amp. Cant remember the setting. will check it out when I get a chance.
I, too, think the octaver & env. on the BSW are OK!

The synth sounds on the BSW suck. The envelope filter is ok, as is the suboctaver.

Like others have said, it has a great sub octave. Considering how cheap the digitech is, it is worth it just for the sub octave.

The fact that the filter, especially with the octave, is usable is a bonus.

I like the BSW synth sounds--guess I'm in the minority. They always turn heads when I jam with DJs and electronica folx. The talking modes are especially trippy. Octaver's great. Filter isn't the best ever but mode 2 (octave+ filter) sounds pretty thick.

My minimal FX setup when I don't feel like busting out everything is bass->BSW-->Boss BF-2 Flanger-->Tech 21 ParaDriver DI. Running the BSW into analog FX can really smooth out some of the digital harshness.

I use one when I work for a certain artist who wants the sounds I have found.
IMHO having a compressor helps with this pedal. I put it after the synth wah in the chain....oops!!!!

I forgot, I am using the guitar version of the pedal...

I found that if I use the synth in combo with an OC-2 pedal it sounds pretty good. It's one of my goto sounds actually. Used it playing a dubbed out version of The Clash - Bankrobber the other day. I just followed the vocal line with it.

I must say, I consider the suckitude of the BSW to be quite high.

with synth and envelop type pedals its like that... either you know how to work them or they work against you!!! its that simple!!!

You know, you got a point there.

I was toying with the BSW a bit today and found a bunch of useable sounds I haven´t discovered before (some of them actually involving the "vocal" settings I so vehemently dissed earlier in this thread ).

On top of that, I found a solution for the Muse-like synth with setting #4 - turn the "Control" knob all the way clockwise and the "quacks" disappear. Works for fast riffs as well.

Bottom line: I like this thing a lot.

Maybe it´s because I´m neither a native speaker nor a specialist for effects, but I´d like to blame the manual for my inefficency. I guess the lesson I´ve learned here is - don´t post until you´ve spent some quality time with the gear you´re reviewing. I only got the BSW a couple of days ago... :scowl:

that is the point!!!

sure you must read the manual to know for what the unit was intended but you must then break the rules and experiment to get it to work for you!!! almost every piece of gear works, there are a few item out there that really don't work...
if you put your head, soul and character to it things will work
work for you that iz!!!
