Digitech Ricochet as standard octave up effect for a Royal Blood like setup?

I realize that pitching up a bass alone will always sound somewhat artificial and not like a real guitar, but as far as I can hear from the demos the Sub'N'Up has a less synthy or organ like character, like a cleaner pitched up signal, compared to the POG which I think it is fair to say has a slightly organ or synth like character to it, which of course can be cool in it self if that is what you are looking for in an octaver.

This is correct the sound is more "natural" and less synthy per say from a pog and both track very well.. some will say 1 or the other is better and more likely cause they own that unit but either one you can't go wrong but for what your going for I gather sub n up would be the likely choice due to a little more "natural" (big word here) sounding. Polyphonic pitch shifting will always sound "digital" in some way or form. It's up to the user to hide those "digital" artifacts withbither effects to make it more "natural" but yeah you won't be dissappointed with the sub n up.

My SnU sounds very synthy in the Up octave. But I've only opened the TP editor - the complexity of it overwhelmed me, so I just closed it.

Others with a greater handle on it have had success with tweaking the pedal through the editor.

I had great sucsess with the editor. You really only have to dial in the octave up output section of the editor to set eq and lpf set points really. Just to get rid of the higher digital sound associated.

Kind of frustrating to get a notification that there's an answer to your post only to discover people have been spamming unrelated stuff, advertising for unrelated products you never asked about.

To be fair you asked whether you made the right choice. I can't speak for other people but in my mind your question opens the door to recommending other products that might do what you're trying to achieve better than the Richochet. It also seems like the nature of ANY forum - YT, TB, subreddits, ILF, thegearpage, whatever - to have to wade through answers that might not be exactly what you're looking for. Nature of the beast
