Digitech XP200 modulator

hello,

though i've been lurking for quite some time now (i admit ..boohoo !) this is my first post here.
anyway.. i just bought an old digitech xp200 pedal

i did tons of reasearch to find out which adapter i needed for this thing... every single site said it was the digitech ps913b i needed.. yeah right, i take the xp out of the box, i check the adapter input and it reads
"9V,500mA"

so i start looking for a digitech adapter of 500mA, 9V.. you know digitech pedals have this weird adapter input instead of the standard boss one.. sucky, no batteries to make it work either.. even more sucky...seems like none of their 'current' pedals use 500mA..

anyway, i got the xp for 55 euros, so i didn't hesitate .. but now i can't find a freaking adapter to power it... nice eh ? :eyebrow: :spit:

so, talkbass, can you help me out, fellow xp200 owners..which adapter do you use to power yours ?
anyone who has a digitech pedal that also needs a 500mA adapter.. your advice is more than welcome !

Have a look for a one spot adaptor and buy the correct end for it and it should work no problems unless its 9v AC

Just an FYI for a tidy sum you can have those pedals modded so that they work as the full XP range

XP100 - Whammy
XP200 - Modulator
XP300 - Space Station Synth
XP400 - Reverberator

yep, i know about the xp1000 mod..pretty cool actually..

i power my pedalboard with a visual sound one spot adapter yes, but ..yesss.. it's the 'AC instead of DC' nightmare.. the XP200 needs an AC.. yay ! :rolleyes:

i found these adapters that kind of match the pedal's 'needs' .. but with the weird adapter plug digitechs need i'm just not sure, might as well order one of them and see wether it fits, could still sell it if it doesn't.. but i'm hoping to hear from xp200 owners since they've prolly already gone through the replacement adapter thing for their xp.. :smug:

Man.... Digitech... I got a Whammy recently.. The power requirements for it are 9vAC 1300ma!!! Im in Australia.... Try finding an AC adaptor at 9v with 1.3 amps...

I had to build this contraption:

Yes it is as deadly as it looks, yes that metal thing is live 240v and no its not approved by an electrician...

Its not quite finished yet obviously :D There are other ways around the problem, but I like a challenge.. :bassist:

those are pretty easy to find really, it's the Digitech PS913B adapter you need, 9V, AC, 1300mA

i'm just not sure wether it really matters that much to use a 1300mA adapter when the pedal says 500mA.. everyone keeps saying the PS913B works fine with all the XPmodels... even if they say they need a 500mA adapter.. but i want some clarity on this thing from people who've owned one for quite some time and know wether it will damage the unit or not...guess i'll have to show just a tad bit more patience to get some advice on this. :cool:

There's no reason for it to do any damage unless it's defective.

The current rating (1300mA) is the maximum it can deliver. That doesn't mean your pedal will receive all 1300mA - it will only draw what is needed.

I'm betting the current draw on an XP200 is actually under 500ma :smug:

The Boss PSA adapters, for example, provide 9VDC @ 300mA. Most Boss pedals use only 10-30mA. That's why you can power quite a few of them with just one adapter and a daisy chain.

Digitech is known for its power-hungry pedals, so the only thing you have to worry about is if you get an AC adapter that's rated under 500mA :p

yes, i did tons of searches before i made my post, there's not much on the xp200, but it's true about my question being kind of dumb to someone who knows that more mA won't damage the pedal... i did not know that when i made my post ..and now it does sound stupid, knowing that more mA's won't cause any damage, but it was an honest question and i got an answer, be it in a rather harsh way.
&i've seen threads way more idiotic than this one too.

so now i know the ps913 will work fine ... but to be honest i got that information on another smaller forum where i know more people and more people know me, now i remember why huge forums like this one aren't always the most ..'noob'-friendly, but to those of you giving me advice in ..well..let's just say a 'polite' way, thanks.

btw, i'm a she, not a he, like that matters. :D
