DIing my rig

I'm looking for some advice on how to DI my rig while retaing the sound I have from my amps.
I have a peavey 115 linked to a trace elliot commando through the effects send of the peavey to the effects return of the commando.

You're running two combo amps with two different preamps. If you want both sounds you can:

1. run the line out of each amp into two DI boxes
2. mic both cabs
3. run both line outs into a small mixer and then send the mixed signal to the PA.

You shouldn't. The line out is designed for this very purpose. However, headphone jacks have been known to mute the speaker output when you plug in headphones.

99% of cabinets sound very little like the instrument and amp that are feeding the cabinet, so a DI will not give you the sound of the cabinet. If fed by the amp's output a DI will give you the sound of the amp, but it still won't much resemble the sound of the cabinet. A cab-sim DI (Radial JDX) will get the closest, but most are voiced for guitar.
