sweet humblebrag op
Only the part where you flip all of it next week anyway.
Hmm, Sweet Humblebrag would be a good name for a jam or blues band...
My heart bleeds for you....Just follow me on this one.
I was going over my finances the other day and figured out I'm dong better than I thought. My goal of saving up a bunch of money for The Wife's new car? Completed. My goal of having enough money to pay for my new Barefaced Super Midget that's on order w/out using credit Completed. AND, I've gotten some nice gigs in the recent past and in the coming months that I'll have a nice chunk of change in my gear slush fund. More than I had anticipated.
Sooooo...What's the dilemma? I am saving for a Invalid Link Removed, which is basically one half of a Invalid Link Removed. I was in the position of not being able to afford a Felix, so the Alix seems like the next best thing. I could definitely use the two channel capability of the Felix, though. I wouldn't be often, but IMO often enough to justify me getting one if I can swing it.
Soooo...What's the dilemma?? I have enough money saved that, if I sell some fun/cool pedal stuff, I can snag the Felix. Dilemma is I like the stuff I'd have to sell. Some newly acquired, really fun and great sounding toys. And a couple of things that would be redundant with the Felix.
I mean, yes, the Felix would be great to have. The two channels would get put to use. But would I use the extra features of the Felix enough to justify offing some nice gear?
Any of this make sense?

First world problems.
And of course you've already got an emergency fund of 6 - 8 months or more of living expenses socked away and are fully funding your retirement.

I am the andwer to your problem.
I'll message you my paypal address.
Yup. We've got savings and college savings and retirement savings going on. We're not rich, by any means. And depending on what the kids do college-wise we're looking at debt, for sure. The Wife has paid the bills that last 15+ years while I have Mr. Mommed. But I have always kept gigging part time, about 80-ish gigs/year. Mostly weekend warrior type of stuff. Seeing my impending "retirement" coming a few years back I invested in a decent upright so I could make myself more desirable (for lack of a better word before the second cup kicks in) as a bass player in my middle aged years. And also to get out of the bar scene. Or at least the late night bar scene. I've been working late nights and getting up early for 25+ years now. It's starting to get a little old. Anyway, my plan has worked! I'm quite the average URB player but have stumbled upon some really nice folks that provide me some nice steady work on URB. It's amazing how showing up on time, prepared, and not being an a**hole, will get you gigs, no?
I've always been a cheap-ass and really am quite the boring guy: I rarely drink and never on gigs. I take home 100% of my gig money, every gig. I don't hang with the boys. I don't have fancy clothes. (My one suit, two shirts and two ties has seen a LOT of gigs!) But now that I'm older and have the means I'm getting together light gear that I not only will really really love playing through, but IMO will also pay for itself in gigs. AND I'm buying a new suit. It's also amazing how getting a good tone will get you more gigs. AND, I can write off the new gear. Which helps. Hmmm...Might write off the well.
Anyway, that's the back story. I guess the coffee kicked in!
Oh, and The Wife pay for her own car? The Wife and I don't have separate accounts. What's hers is mine and visa versa. We decided to save my gig money years back for just these sort of expenses and as a emergency/rainy day fund. I've already emptied this savings account once before, a few years back, to put a chunk down on a new family car and keep the payments low. Now it's back up and we need a new car.
