Dilemma: Too much money??

Just follow me on this one.

I was going over my finances the other day and figured out I'm dong better than I thought. My goal of saving up a bunch of money for The Wife's new car? Completed. My goal of having enough money to pay for my new Barefaced Super Midget that's on order w/out using credit Completed. AND, I've gotten some nice gigs in the recent past and in the coming months that I'll have a nice chunk of change in my gear slush fund. More than I had anticipated.

Sooooo...What's the dilemma? I am saving for a Invalid Link Removed, which is basically one half of a Invalid Link Removed. I was in the position of not being able to afford a Felix, so the Alix seems like the next best thing. I could definitely use the two channel capability of the Felix, though. I wouldn't be often, but IMO often enough to justify me getting one if I can swing it.

Soooo...What's the dilemma?? I have enough money saved that, if I sell some fun/cool pedal stuff, I can snag the Felix. Dilemma is I like the stuff I'd have to sell. Some newly acquired, really fun and great sounding toys. And a couple of things that would be redundant with the Felix.

I mean, yes, the Felix would be great to have. The two channels would get put to use. But would I use the extra features of the Felix enough to justify offing some nice gear?

Any of this make sense?

Hard for me to relate to something like that since it's beyond the scope of anything I might possibly need for what I do.

However, it seems like an impressive pre if you need that level of studio quality - or you're running a studio.

I looked at the user manual they've published. Definitely a nice bit of kit even if they did kinda lose me when they said: "Open, musical and detailed instrument and mic preamplification for discerning artists and engineers like yourself." That old elitist "discerning" part was kind of a turnoff for me. :laugh:

Anyway, I agree with @charlie monroe . If you're that disciplined, why settle? Just wait a bit and bank up the extra for the Felix since you can obviously afford this kind of gear. YOLO right? :thumbsup:

Sounds like selling off the soon-to-be-redundant pieces and buying the Felix is the way to go! You'll use it, you want it, and you've got a possibly rare opportunity to get it. I say it is an easy choice. :)

Discerning puts you off? You mean you don't approve of using good judgment? If you are thinking it means discriminating, check your dictionary.

Depends on the context.

I do know what the dictionary definition is btw. And I've also done enough time in marketing to know the subtext being delivered. I'm reading it in the same sense as this example from the OED:
  • Some might condemn my reaction as politically motivated rather than a discerning literary judgement.
In short, those few who know and recognize what "the good stuff" really is. ;)

But I was mainly joking with DG when I said that. :)
