Dimarzio Relentless J and Sixties J pickups

Noticed these on the Dimarzio site today as I have been contemplating grabbing a DP126 PJ set (I used to use this set years ago).

I would be interested to see how the 60s P pairs with the 60s J.

Also I believe the Relentless P was designed in collaboration with Billy Sheehan I believe? Interesting the P has solid pole pieces, but the like-named J has adjustable poles. They may work well together but would not look the same.

Any how - interesting. Apologies if this has already been covered in another thread.

I love the Relentless P and neck humbucker set, and I've been pestering Billy about this J set for a year, haha! He'll be posting an installation video soon, like he did for the others.

I'm building another Jazz with a P neck to host this new set. If they're anything like the P/neck humbucker set, they'll set a new standard for clarity and presence.

Relentless Middle - no pole pieces
Relentless P - adjustable pole pieces
Sixties P - solid pole pieces

Relentless J - adjustable pole pieces
Sixties J - solid pole pieces

I went too early whinging about the fact the Relentless J has exposed, adjustable pole pieces but the Relentless P doesn't.

Maybe a little bit softer&sweeter when played solo but I doubt anyone will hear it in a mix. Alnico II is also supposed to be a little bit louder.

That's why the Area J and Ultra J have been running low in stock...

As I read their data, the Relentless J look like the replacement of Model J and the Sixties J, of Area J. I wonder how large a difference the new design with the internally raised center will make.

Have two Relentless J bridges on order (nickel & gold). Can’t wait to see how they sound…been waiting for this release since the neck & middle came out! Will be nice to have a J that matches the power and tone of the others.

I did the same with the sixties J pair. I wont be able to get them in or record for a while though.
