Dimarzio

I just bought a P bass body which I have a neck that came off a USA P. I putting this bass together for something to do I am retired. I don't want it to sound like my other P bass. It is a USA Fender. Anyway I got the body done and painted and new tuners. I am thinking about using the Dimarzio 127s has anyone used them are heard them. They are suppose to be a humbucker. I know most guys would go fpr the Power Ps cause of Stu Hamm. He is a awesome bass player, but its not what I am looking for. I want smooth low end and sweet cream highs. Crazy I know.

You might find quite a few testimonials in previous posts. I have two basses with these, and I'd say they'll offer what you're looking for. They are more traditional sounding with a solid low end, and typical high end (for a P). They don't scoop the mids like many replacement P pickups do. And the adjustable poles are a nice feature.

You mean these Fred?

I experimented with a bunch of different pickups and ended up really liking the Split P. Great all around tone to my ears, but what I really like it the way it picks up on my playing. Can really get different tones out of that pickup by varying technique. More so IMO than any of the active setups I've used. I'm a big fan.

All three of these guys have em

I like those basses! Very Rick inspired, but better!

I think Kris pretty much nailed it regarding the dynamics. I ordered mine from Brian at Bestbassgear and he help me pick them out. I'm sure I told him I wanted a heavy P sound with maybe some extra bite and modern edge to it and he came through with just what I was looking for. I wish I could remember how he described them but that was a while back. Whatever he told me, it seems he was right on the money and I highly recommend talking to him. He can help you out and and hook you up!

He also suggested pairing it with the ultra jazz and as you can see I liked the combo so well I went back for seconds and thirds.
