How many players solo the bridge pickup?
Thanks!
I have used the bridge pickup solo on only ONE song since I started playing Dingwall basses in 2004.

Still waiting for the Rastabustion to come out...

Had a fun outdoor gig with the combustion 6 tonight! I sat on the neck pickup only in passive for the full two hours and everything sounded great.
Down at a private party in Prior Lake - we got really lucky with rain. It really only picked up as we were heading home.Where at? I'm guessing you didn't have any rain, it got rainy here north of the cities (south of Mille Lacs).

I believe Dingwall sells the kit you need. Pickup and pickguard included.Although I did buy my Whalepool blue brand new Combustion yesterday (not a NG), I of course don't have it yet but you know, we all think of 'mods' we can do. This model has the single bridge pickup and the neck pickup with the space in between for the additional 3rd pickup. I found one site that has the mod kit but its in the England/UK and I'm not, and that kit is for the 3rd pickup addition. What I would really like to do as far as a mod is move that neck pickup butt up against the bridge one, so I have more 'open' space where my pick lands when playing as I only play with a pick 100% of the time. Its this psychological thing, if I see a pickup where my pick lands, I'm bound to hit the top of it. Is there a Dingwall pick guard I can buy so I can do this mod I want? If not, then I will go for the gusto and add the 3rd pickup, just because, and try to deal with my psychological roadblock when picking.

I must be missing something because I don't see any parts for sale on their website, at all, just strings and regular Dingwall type merchandise. Maybe one has to write in? The mod kit I did find, and only one of them, was to add the middle pickup into the Combustion, not to move the neck pickup back and fill over the open cavity with a new pick guard. Ill keep looking though. Now I wonder if one could buy the NG pickguard for the 2 pickup bridge config I want and do it that way, but then I don't know if there is a good section of Whalepool blue paint that would then show through the NG rectangle cutaway.
You need to email Dingwall or your local dealer to order a kit. I assume the one you saw in the U.K. was bassdirect, they are a reputable company and well known Dingwall dealer. In the US you can try fretnation, our old friend John Fox and I think LoMax bass?
I don’t recall if you can buy an NG shaped pickguard from Dingwall (I suspect not as it’s from the signature model) but you can certainly fine them used online at the usual places. You can also have one made.
If you’re just wanting the NG spacing then go for that IMO it’s cheaper and less hassle.

That middle pickup position is magical. I always solo the neck pickup (middle on a 3x) on my NG-2. To me, it's a precision tone with serious attitude.![]()

You would have to tell me that now... gosh.. ok, I will do it. Thanks for the kick in my ARSE in that direction!
