I suspect that Sheldon would be willing to, with the understanding that you cover all R & D costs. :hiding:

I too would be curious to know how a Dingwallized slab body would feel. I spent a lot of time looking at the contours on the back of SJ5. Its pretty clear that Sheldon spent some major time refining standard contours.

I love my reverse headstock slab. Fun bass to play with monster bottom. Not sure if I would want to refine it.

One of the issues with these unique burst, diagonal fades and finishes is that body shape verses orientation of finish plays a huge roll. I really like the Diagonal yellow/orange/yellow on the BC site. That said, I don't know if it would work on a traditional style body.

If you think it's bad, try ordering one. It is the only time in my life that I have been so certain about wanting a bass, yet waited months to order it, just to ensure that it spec'd perfect for me.

I'm giddy over my final choice, however, I will openly admit that if Ken's bass showed up in error, it would be extremely difficult to send it back!

My only fear with the Super P5 is that I am afraid I will love the thing to the point that nothing else will get any play time.

I did see that a week or two back. It's gorgeous, but I am stuck on white in a dead heat with the Fiesta red, and Sonic Blue a close second.

I can't explain why, other than preference I guess.

I'd be curious to see a diagonal fade on an SJ or SP to see if it works aesthetically.

SJ5 has been here all year and has a baltic amber pick guard.

The upcoming SP5 also has a Baltic amber pick guard. It was sketchy for a while because it became virtually impossible for Dingwall to source. Fortunately, Sheldon was able to purchase the remaining original stock of the stuff.

It is the only pick guard shade by my eye to make the white really pop. If they were unable to have the Baltic, I'd be awaiting my fiesta red SP5 right now.

Both basses are Pau Ferro fret boards with maple necks. I actually prefer the look and feel of maple fret boards but my playing style (or lack thereof) induces a ton of clack with maple boards.
