A couple of people asked me how the SJ5 sounded through the new church rig so I thought I'd post.
As stated previously, the previous church rig wet the bed. For a variety of reasons, I could not get comfortable leaving either of my gig rigs at church. Further, I did not want to drag a ton of gear back and forth.
So, with time constraits, I found a fire sale on a brand new PF800 stack. The cabs are a 115 HE and 210 HE.
Yes, I know that I have committed a TB felony by mixing drivers, but there is a method to my madness. Rig is for nothing more than stage mix. Because stage volume isn't insane, mixing drivers wont be an issue. Further, we have the option of running just the 10's or the 15 solo.
Personally, I'd prefer to run with a Greenboy cab, but I didnt think it right to call Mark and ask him to push me to the front of line. He will call me when it's my turn AGAIN, and I'll likely swap out the cabs.
Testing yesterday, the cabs were a bit woofie, compared to what I prefer in terms of tone. I actually had to engage the horn on the 210 and may engage the horn on the 115 as well.
Mids were a hair soft so I had to jack up 800 htz. I tried 400 htz but that didnt help.
Once the dust settled, I heard the SJ that I know and love.
I am now trying to incorporate THIS in to the rig. Reiner Amplification Box O Tone. This is the box to own if you want to hear the inner soul of your Dingwall. It is so pure that if you're running a pre amp in your bass, you could use this for FoH or studio and do subtle EQ tweaks via the bass.

Had a chance to try a few different models (AB I & II 5-strings, Super J 4, Super P 5) last year and afterwards just couldn't get those fantastic basses out of my head....especially the Super P was simply to die for.

Sorry, no pics from me yet....but I guess the ones from Bassdirect will do for now.
This bass is absolutely amazing! It rendered all my other basses pretty much obsolete....I cannot say enough about the sound, the playability, the light weight, the craftmanship and everything else about this thing. It simply kills.
Only complaint I have is that the tone fusion-pot developed some pretty heavy crackling (any idea how to fix this?) and maybe that I'd rather have the scooped headstock instead of the badge on it....but I guess I can live with that.

The badge doesn't really bother me, I just needed something to nag about because I can't find anything else that isn't pretty much perfect on this bass....
And don't start with the DAS, I'm already lusting for a Super J and/or an AB/ABZ....if I only had the cash!

Does the tone fusion make noise when the strings are muted or just when there is signal going through it? If it's the latter, that's the sound of the tone fusion being switched out of the signal path as it hits the center detent. This is normal and requires muting the strings to be fully silent at the switch point. On either side of the detent it should be quiet no matter if the strings are muted or ringing.

Really didn't expect help from the master himself, greatly appreciated...
The tone fusion pot only produces a loud crackling noise while turning it, all the way in both directions. Doesn't matter if strings are muted or ringing. So I suspect it's dirt or oxidation inside the pot that's causing it.
The tone fusion itself works flawlessly and there is no noise when it's tuned to the desired position.
Oh, and I noticed that the crackling reduces more and more when I turn the pot a few times, until it's pretty much gone. But if I pick up the bass one day later the crackling has returned and I have to do the same procedure again.
I think I'll try the method Grand Wazoo mentioned (Thanks again btw!) and see if that fixes the problem.
Or would you recommend something else?

Yeah, I kinda noticed that....and I'm already feeling very comfortable here in the Dingwall club.
Yeah, that looks exactly like my bass....in fact, the Super P shown in the picture over there IS my bass (pickguard and fingerboard grain match 100%), so the one actually for sale must be another one...
Edit: Seems like the seller just used a pic from the official Super P gallery, and the shown bass is actually mine...
So I have a problem. I recently purchased the Super P 4 string, as you can see in previous posts It just so happens that I am a sucker for a maple fretboard and found me one for a decent price after I closed this deal. My dilemma is that I can't return this fine specimen.
So, should I suck it up and keep it or try to sell and buy the one I really want? If I sell it, any takers want a deal Lol $100 off what I paid and I cover shipping
If I decide to I'll post an official FS thread. Do you guys think it would sell quick?

You should ask your wife, not a bunch of Dingwall addicts. We'll just enable you. So, yeah, sure, go for it!
I try to cover different areas with my Dingwalls, so I wouldn't hassle with multiple deals just to change the fretboard. Now if it was a Super P 5, AB-1 or 2, or a six string...The longscale models are amazing...
