I'm a lucid dreamer, so I'm sadly always aware that I'm dreaming.
After selling a ton of gear, I'm ready to do it. now I have to make a decision:
Green swirl ng2:
2 tone black burst combustion:
the plan is to eventually do both but I keep going back and forth for my first one. Since I don't have a bass with the "sweet spot" pickup configuration right now I'm leaning towards the ng2 . I keep waffling, so if you guys wanted to push me in a direction I'm ready to rip the bandaid off.

I'd go for the combustion of the 2 myself. Maybe add a middle pick up.
Or you could find a good used ABZ 3x and have the best of both worlds!!

Both are great looking, from the pictures. I had a Blackburst come through here a few weeks ago and it was much nicer (to me) in person than in the pics and is now one of my favorites. The swirls - I was so blown away with the pics of them that I ordered all colors all configurations before NAMM 2017, and am anxiously awaiting the first shipment. Hopefully, like the blackburst, they will be even more impressive in person than in the pics, which I find most impressive.
I would say if you want aggressive, the NG2 is the ticket. I also think the NG2 maintains a quicker re-sale just based on the fact that we have a several NG2s to each Combustion order. The Combustion would be your ticket if you want a smoother less aggressive sound that may or may not be more versatile. Also check out the Trans-White as it is real classy in-person. I like both Combustion and NG2, but order all our Canadian bases with the Darkglass pre that comes in the NG2, as it is simply an amazing tonal machine with the low and high mid controls and a natural aggressive nature. But I was speaking the other day to a studio owner and suggested to him that the Combustion may be a more versatile studio instrument.

Best of all worlds.
While the swirl green is very cool, it reminds me of 80's hair metal and I am not sure I would personally like it long term. I would be more inclined to choose a burst or a straight solid colour for myself.

When I first ordered a Ferrari Yellow NG2 from Dingwall, I was kinda regretting it as I said ALMOST the same thing to myself about the Yellow as you are thinking about the Green Swirl. When I showed my wife a pic she said almost the same thing but a little stronger, "YUK!". But when we unboxed it and looked at it, I was shocked and the first word out of my mouth was, "WOW! and the first words from my wife was, "THAT is CLASSY!" While they do have a bit of wild-side look in the pics, I have a feeling that is what the SWIRLS will be, "Classy!"
I can definitely vouch for that! I went to check out the Yellow Swirl when Sheldon had it out "on tour" a few weeks ago. It was AWESOME. The pictures are cool, but seeing it in person, it's just WOW! I had cash in my pocket and desperately tried to buy it, but the dealer wouldn't let me buy it because he said he hadn't been invoiced for it yet so he didn't know the price. I offered to show him the price list and pay him the stated price, and he said, "But that doesn't include customs and shipping and I don't know how much those will add." I said, "But the bass is here in the store so there is no customs and no shipping, right?" He said that those still had to be added. So unfortunately, after driving 90 minutes to see the bass and spending an hour playing it and bonding with it, I had to drive 90 minutes back home empty handed with my $2,000 in my pocket and no bass. I waited a few weeks for him to give me the price so I could buy it. When he still couldn't give me the price, I ended up buying a Laguna Seca Blue NG-2/5 to tide me over for the time being (which is also awesome by the way!), and ordering an orange swirl one from another dealer, as well as one in solid orange. (Got to have both a 4 stringer and a 5 stringer, right?) I really dug the yellow a lot more than I would have expected. But I already know that I love orange even more, so I am really excited to be getting the "twins" in a few weeks!!
Oh - and since I know that without a photo, it doesn't exist, here's a cellphone shot from the store!

I simply don't understand how a seller turns away a buyer with cash in hand....Maybe the seller thought he could hit a home run on ebay with it or something....
Some of you may have seen this over on Facebook but wanted to post here too. Pure sonic bliss. I've been playing the hell out of it today....all day. Setup, build quality, tone and feel are unreal.
Sonically, for as much as I looove the series setting (all 3 pickups), the middle solo just does it for me. Such an overused statement but P bass on roids doesn't even cut it. Just a bigger, tighter, more harmonically rich P tone. In loooove right at this moment. Sheldon placed that middle pickup in the sweetest of spots.

Absolutely love the toggle.
He will do you right Nate. If you are unhappy for any reason, he will remake them. Very sharp guy, all I do is tell him what I have and ask if there is anything new he wants to try, he always delivers!
Nice. I've seen some nice antler ones he's done. I was kinda thinking antler and wenge for the Z3 6.......... AHHHH!!!
