the apple camera adaptor works 100% with my zoom h6.

i can use any input, combinations of mic/input, etc. there are no issues.

if the irig worked it would have been a bit more convenient, but then again the zoom has great built in mics so that's worth the extra work.

Great that it works for you. Just in case you want to use the H6 as a multiple-input interface, then you have to change the set-up in the menue system. Now you are using it as a stereo-sum interface. This is the reason it works as you want it to when using it with - for example - the camera-app.

yes - on the opening menu it gives the choice of multiple tracks or a stereo mix.

I did have an occasional popping sound from a buffering issue in the camera app.

in the accapella app, there are options to select (the default fixes the problem) which is nice.

i know I already concluded this thread, but just wanted to add further that this video was done going direct into my iphone. bass into ebs reverb, microphone on the bass cabinet.

the acapella app is key.

this is a zoom h6 (could use any mixer with USB out) into the iphone camera adaptor from apple.

the Irig itself is not nearly as useful. it's more expensive, noisier, has less gain range (some of my basses clip the input with gain all the way down?) - though it does serve it's purpose and is more compact than using a mixer / zoom recorder, the rig i've been using work nicely for me.

if i were to do it all over again i'd likely buy a small mixer and the camera adaptor. I'm very happy with using the zoom, though.

Posting in here as I'm sure someone has the answer: what softward are you using to record? I'd also like a simple solution where I can record something via lightning port and then have it to share or save.

I have an Allen and Heath mixer with USB out and a camera adapter. When I plug the USB out into my computer with garageband, it recognizes the mixer. When I plug the mixer into my phone via the camera adapter, I can't get the phone to recognize it in either garageband or voice memos. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need a different app?

In order to work with the iPhone, the audio-interface - in your case the usb-out of the mixer - has to be class compliant. This means it works with generic drivers that are part of iOS. The mixer has to be NOT powered by USB, because the iPhone can not deliver enough power to it. You don't write the specific modell name of your mixer, so I can only guess that the mixer might not be class compliant.

i am using the acapella app. now that i've worked out my system, and for what i do, it's very well worth the money. you can't record direct to your camera as there is a buffering issue. the app luckily resolves it.



i also learned during this recording that you can actually track, then export your mp3's to edit, and then re-combine in video editing software if you wish. I had no idea. wish i had known sooner! this makes using the app even better.
