Dirk in trouble?

Dave nailed it! They don't care about regular gigs. It's the televised ones that they'd want their product displayed. That's with all companies. Back in the '70's, Gibson threatened to sue George Benson, because he was in Vintage Guitar mag holding a D'Angelico (sp?). Turns out that he was just tuning the thing for someone.

Could you please tell me what's so cool about that?

He will play a bass because he gets something (money?) in return.

It certainly won't lure me into buying one.

Whats so cool about an endorsement deal??

You get free basses, man! Whats not to love?

"Is an exclusive endorsment deal legally binding? "

... uh

Most contracts tend to be that way.

:D

From what I've heard, if it's in the music industry, it's legally binding in one way or another. :(

Hey, c'mon now. I remember reading about Jeff Berlin's endorsment deal with Modulus (I think... or was it Dann Glenn? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was Dann Glenn...) Anyway, that was a verbal agreement kind of thing. I didn't know if it was a contract at all.

Why would Warwick just be calling average citizins like WarwickNut and asking them if they'd seen show's?? but anyway, I saw that show on HBO and he had 2 other Warwicks that he played earlier in the show so that would cancel out him being forced into playing the fender.

Woodchuck(warwicknut) is an endorser too.

Ugh. Dirk didnt use a Fender to record "drive". That was on "Make Yourself" an album recorded over two years ago. As far as I know, Dirk did not possess and certainly was not gigging a Jazz Bass at this time. He was using his pre-2000 SSIIs. Two fretted and one fretless. Go on to the Warwick site, there is an interview with him on their "101 Survival" bit.

I think you should look into the term "exclusive contract". I don't think it's the end of the world, or anything like that, but they do have every right to be upset. As for the red J bass, it looked like a vintage piece, probably mid to late '70's. It looked battle scarred.

Ok...ok I'll step up and volunteer to take over his exclusive endorsment!!!

:D

You 2 don't know what you're asking for. Who in their right mind would want to get $2000 - $4000 basses for $400 - $700, or even for free?! It's not a good life. Please stay in school, eat your veggies!:D

I would! For a Warwick I would stay in school longer than necessary and eat nothing BUT veggies!
