Disappointing ebay bass delivery

I found the perfect ibanez Sr500. It was in mint condition, rarely used. Bought it for 400. Seller was supposed to use expedited shipping with an arrival date of 3-6 business days. Somewhere along the line the seller decided to change the rules and shipped it the cheapest and slowest plan. I got the guitar 21 days later. I opened up the box and there were only a couple small plastic bags to protect this guitar for a 3,000 mile trip.

According to ebay, the seller is responsible to
Give back 100% of what I paid including the shipping to return it. He offered my a 90.00 refund if I wanted it and I get to keep the guitar. That is 310 for a 600 guitar that is in mint condition except for that one spot. I spent a long time trying to find the perfect guitar with no scratches. So my gut feeling is to return it because I think it will forever bother me.

Any ideas
Bob

If you think it's going to bother you, return it and buy this one instead for $299 + shipping.
This Bass is used but supposedly in excellent condition.

OR...
I would just keep the bass and take the $90 credit. Realize that this kind of finish is almost next to impossible to keep in perfect condition unless you hardly play it. (then why have it in the first place right?) so it will get marked in time anyway.

The bass I linked above has the sturdier finish should hold up better.

Before you send it back, what are the chances you'll find a better one for the same money? All the used SR500s I've seen were $400 or more and were ugly thrashed, usually scratched up on the front. I bought mine new on sale for $560, so if mint is important to you, you may want to save up.

If money is tight, that's a pretty sweet bass for $310!

Edited to add: Just saw Maxdusty's post, that thing looks sweet! I think I would at least call and have somebody tell you if it's as clean as it looks in the pic.

Let eBay make him fully refund you and give him negative feedback to warn his next customer.

It was a scumbag move for him to skimp on the packaging and and ship over two weeks later than promised.

Hopefully he'll do right for the next person he sells to or he'll stop selling online all together if he knows he can't get away with under delivering on his promises.

In such decisions, I always consider how the bass plays. Do you like the sound, setup, and vibe of the bass?
If yes, I would take the 90 and keep it. If no, take advantage of ebay policiy and return it.
To me sound and vibe is way more important than a scratch/ding.
