There were a lot of mentions of ergonomics on this thread. I used to have an LTD Eclipse bass, the EC414. Beautiful instrument, extremely well build, fit and finish was pretty much flawless. EMG pickups and a set of black beauties and it was SINGING. The neck was slim but had a weird but very comfortable, round neck profile.
Problem was, apart from the expected neckdive, the first few frets felt kilometres away!
So weird to play to the point of being quite uncomfortable. If I wanted to reach the first frets comfortably, the body went all the way over to my side and my right hand ended up pretty much on the last frets of the neck.
Still, I so loved that bass and wouldn't sell it because of that. I tearfully parted with it because I needed the money badly at the time. I regret it even more now, since it's been discontinued. Oh well...
