My take on this is that I just don't like hanging out with dishonest people. I wouldn't fire the guy on the spot for one incident, but if there was a pattern of behavior like this I just wouldn't want to be around him. It IS a morality issue, I impose my morality on others, and am not ashamed of it. Am I a prude or am I perfect, no, but I still have the right to chose who I hang out with, and that includes making judgments on their behavior.

I think you misunderstand me, it's not about the "victims", it's about the dishonesty. I seriously doubt any thing bad could come of this single act, but is is kind of sleazy. If it was just a joke or a goof, fine, it's a lighthearted prank. But if this is the the way the guy sets out to promote the band, it just shows a lack of good judgment. I wouldn't feel like hanging out with a guy like this.

Screw it, let it go, he is trying, which is more than can be said for a lot of bandmates I've worked with. If it were me I'd be real tempted to ask the crowd if anyone was here because of said ad. Should anyone respond, smile and wink at them.
