My girlfriends parents are divorced, along with he best friend. She took serious offense to this. I just cant believe someone could say this.

I have taken my part in bashing on threads before, but when its your thread about your life, its different. Sorry for blowing up, it just feels like total disrespect when a thread like this is thrown up and all that happens is total ignorance. Yet again, sorry for getting defensive. Really.

Just remember, some of us TB'ers are still young, and have feelings. A thread where someones girlfriend was deliberately attacked shouldnt be a place for bashing and jokes, IMO. Hate me.

A comment from, and I hope I'm getting this right, your girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend's father, who told your girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend a passing comment and sweeping generalization about children of divorcees?

If that's your idea of an attack, well, I'd like to live in your world.

The sad thing about it is that in a couple years, you will probably understand this thread and how it went better (and your girlfriend too). We know you are mad because someone stupid said something stupid, but believe what the others told you, that's just the beginning, you will see far worse soon and all of a sudden that event and stupid comment (the whoever father's comment that is) will lose any significance. You will then learn to grow a carapace and not let comments that you judge stupid affect you at all.

I don't think TB members are disrespectful, I just think they (and I sure do) are exposed to such levels of stupidity and personal attacks on a DAILY basis. That may have sounded rude, but if you come back and read this thread when you are 20-21, you will probably laugh at it yourself.

You then have 2 choices (ok, 3 if you count carrots). Hear what the old folks say and start to slowly learn to not let these affect you (why would that guy's opinion be better than yours/your girlfriends ?). Or if you want the answer you may have been looking for, you will have to ask other 16s, as only them will give you that.
