Divorce Rant

Im far from emo.

I just learned a lesson, thats all. It happens to the best of us, learning the hard way not to post things on TB that are emotional or serious.

Ill keep my posts under the maximum brain cell count now, I think it was about 12 last time I read the rules. Sorry guys, but most of you are doing a great job keeping that rule alive! :D

Just a joke, playing along with you guys. It all blew over, Im over it. Have your phone, Im jumping on the bandwagon.

I know you're joking, and in all seriousness TB is a place for many of us to come and unwind after a day in the world. Me, I work two jobs: One for someone else and the second running a business of my own. At work I have both employees and those above me in the hierarchy, and at the business I have employees and direct contact with customers. Every day there's drama, every day there's discontent, and every day it's something different. When I first read your opening post about the girlfriend's-brother's-uncle's-best friend's-dad's-monkey's uncle I almost thought YOU were joking, trying to see if you could get a rise out of the community.

Well when something serious actually happens, be sure to let us know.

ITs finally nice enough to golf here in Ohio. There ya go.

And Rustynuts, I understand. Im over it, I understand that TB is not the place to tell your personal problems. Learn via experience. Just when a thread is about your girlfriend being sad, and the only concern of everyone is a joke, its harsh. But I understand, my mistake.

Everyone move on, nothing to see here.

But Phil, you cant tell me that at 16 you wouldnt have gotten mad when someone payed no respect to your girlfriend.

Let's take a look at what the father said that you have paraphrased:

girls whos parents are divorced are lonely and just want to date to get date to have sex and get pregnant to fill that void

Why would your girlfriend be crying about someone saying this? Why not ridicule it as being absurd? Why not make the point that maybe this is true in some cases but not in others? Why not just say "Whatever!"? There's more than one way to respond or react to something and that's directly related to ones level of self awareness and self esteem.

This is where my initial comment about the truth hurting sometimes comes in. This particular statement struck a chord with your girlfriend which is why she was crying which means she has some feelings about her parents being divorced that's bothering her along with some self esteem issues.

I still don't understand why you would be angry...When I was 16 I would have been trying to figure out what was going on not so much reacting to what was going on.

Wise man here

Wise? Nah....the only person in this thread that has been around this site longer than I is JT. I joined here when I was 14. There are plenty of horrible posts that I made back then as proof.

So Jordasch, when you're 22, this can be one of those threads for you. I cringe every time I see a post I made in the past as I've been on here with a variety of sobriety levels, posting abilities, etc. Sometimes, said past is last week..sometimes it's a few years ago.

Life sucks, wear a helmet.

...try being divorced twice, when you get there, come cry to us.

And we do share our pain here, when there is REAL pain, we support one another, as TB has twice for me going through said divorces (neither of which I wanted).

You got run up the flagpole because this is such a non-issue it's silly.

You need to stop being a Nancy, and your g/f needs to grow a backbone. You're bellyaching over an ignorant statement by an ignorant jerk. It should have been over the instant your g/f heard said statement, and if she had the aforementioned backbone, you probably would have heard this story as a joke about a jerk, which is how we're seeing it.

If you're not emo, please stop acting like you are, hmmkay?

;)

Otherwise, run along, shrink your t-shirt, and try to avoid razorblades.
