I know that carbon reinforcement has been discussed before, I am not trying to re-hash all previous discussions, but I had an idea and I am curious if I am way off base or not.
I know a guy who happens to own a carbon fiber manufacturing company and he gave me a big roll of carbon fiber cloth and it got me thinking. It is a weave; I think uni-directional fiber would be better, but maybe this would still work?
So here is my concept; if I route slots in the neck on either side of the truss rod, instead of using a solid 1/8" x 3/8" CF rod, I could wrap CF cloth around a strip of wood and epoxy it into the neck. This would make 4 layers of cloth (2 per side/slot) held rigid by epoxy.
I have heard it discussed, using CF cloth in between layers of a multi-lam neck; I feel this would have a similar effect but keep the cloth hidden inside the neck.
Below is a quick sketch, hopefully illustrating what I am talking about.

I am curious whether this would work or have enough effect to make it worth the effort, if anybody has any thoughts on the matter.
