To the folks here who've built some of their own ...
I'm looking to build some bass effects, those first on my list would be:
Octave
Envelope Filter
Compressor
Chorus
Looper
Delay
I'm and experienced electronics type having designed all kinds of electronic products over the years, so I'm not limited by project complexity.
Any recommendations / links to projects I might tackle first?

I would suggest building it for 12v. Leave out the 9v charge pump.

Another general question .. most all effects I see are thru components, is this simply because they are easier to solder for the hobbyist?
I'm thinking of chaining a few effects together in a single assembly and can squeeze a lot more in using smt components, will reduce PCB and mechanical enclosure costs, not to mention snake cable count.
